Creating and joining a group
Open My Groups from the menu, or tap the Planning with friends? card on any planning tab.
- Type a name under Create a Group and tap Create. You become the group's owner and get a six-letter invite code.
- Share the code β tap Copy on the web or Share on your phone. Friends enter it under Join a Group and they're in.
- Anyone can leave a group at any time and rejoin later with the same code.
Group chat
- Tap Open Group Chat on a group to send text, take a photo π·, or pick one from your library πΌοΈ.
- Tap β― on your own message to edit or delete it. Edited messages show an edited label that anyone can tap to see earlier versions.
- Tap the small β flag next to someone else's message to report it to the RoadTrippin team.
Group details, chat messages, and chat photos are visible only to the members of that group.
Being a group owner
- Tap manage members to remove someone (they can rejoin with the code) or Make owner to hand the group to another member, who can accept or decline.
- When an owner leaves a group of three or more people, they choose who takes over. In a two-person group, the other member becomes the owner automatically.
- If nobody wants to take over, the owner can let the app hold the group. Any member can then tap Take Ownership to run it again.
Getting help inside the app
A short walkthrough appears the first time you join a group, and another the first time you own one. Tap the ? on the My Groups page, on a group you own, or in a chat header to replay them any time.
Heading out together? Our road trip planning checklist covers what to sort out before you leave.
