What is the Log tab?
The Log tab is your record of everything you've found on your trips. It shows your logged visits to points of interest and your geocache finds. It also shows entries from other RoadTrippin travelers in real time, so you can see what people are finding on their own trips.
Logging a visit
Each time you tap Visited on a point of interest along your route, a visit card is added to the Log.
- Each card shows the place name, category, location, date, and time.
- Your total visit count appears at the top.
- Tap β to delete your own entries. Entries from other travelers are labeled Community and can't be changed by anyone but their author.
- A green Live banner means your visits are synced with the community map. A yellow Stored locally banner means they're saved only on your device for now.
Geocache finds
Each find you log in the Geocaches tab adds a find card to the Log, showing the cache name, the coordinates where you found it, and the date and time. Finds from the whole community appear here too, which makes the Log a good way to see recently found caches near any area.
Logging after you've left
Forgot to log at the time? The Past Location Entries section at the bottom of the Log tab lets you add a visit or a find from memory, after you've already left the spot.
Because the location comes from your memory rather than live GPS, you choose an accuracy percentage from 1 to 100% so other travelers know how precise the spot is:
- 95β100% (High) β you remember almost exactly where it was.
- 75β95% (Good) β you have a solid idea of the area; it may take a little looking.
- 50β75% (Fair) β you're in the right neighborhood, but the exact spot is fuzzy.
- Below 50% (Low) β more of a starting point than a precise location. Treat it as a clue.
You'll fill in the type (geocache, park, museum, historic site, viewpoint, or trailhead), the name or GC code, a short description of the spot (for example, near the fountain in Riverside Park), the city or area used to place the pin, and your accuracy.
Tips
- Log live finds at the actual location β your device's GPS records where you were when you tapped the button.
- Log every visit, even brief ones. The data still helps other travelers.
- The date and time are recorded automatically.
- All of your own visits and finds are also collected on your My Account page.
